Love, or something like it - Her Perspecitve (He/She series Part 1)

She never did understand why he loved her. Every day, he was there. They did nearly everything together; slept in the same bed, shared meals, ran errands, made financial decisions, and small things like watched movies, or read books.

Those were just the everyday things. But there were more underneath. He calmed her down when she got upset. He took to the doctor when she was sick or to the hospital when she was very sick. He made sure to get her medication, and food that would help nourish her. He would leave little notes in her school bag. He would frame her certificates that came when she made the Dean's list yet again. He would sit at her choir concerts and listen to the music.

Love…such a strange concept to her at times…love, she thought. What was it really? Was it just taking care of another person? Was it more? She was never sure. Until now, she finally realized that she'd never been truly loved before. Not really. Sure, others had claimed to love her, but she didn't feel the same things as she did with him.

The eagerness to see him at the end of the day, the instant calming effect of being wrapped in his arms and hearing his breathing, the excitement of traveling and seeing new places together. Their interesting conversations when they would be in the car together, driving for a long distance, that usually involved talking about relationships between themselves and people they know. The goofy grin on his face when he finally could make her laugh, all reasons she could think of that made her love him.

If asked, she could list a hundred reasons or more as to why she loved him.

But when she asked "Why?" in that small, child-like voice...he could never find a satisfactory answer.

She hoped that someday, she wouldn't need one.
